Griffiths Island is a 55-acre (22 ha) salt marsh island located in the east basin of Long Island Sound, 8 miles (13 km) east of downtown Brooklyn, at the mouth of the East River. The island is owned and operated by New York City’s Department of Parks and Recreation. It is one of two islands in the borough, the other being Manhattanville.
