Plot
Oh Dae-Su is liberated after being abducted and imprisoned for fifteen years, only to discover that he must locate his kidnapper within five days.
Oh Dae-Su, an unpleasant alcoholic, is abducted on a rainy night in 1988 and wakes up trapped in a windowless and decaying hotel room for an unclear cause. There, his unseen and pitiless captors will feed, clothe, and sedate him to prevent him from committing suicide—and since his only friend and window to the outside world is the TV in his barren cell, the only thing that keeps Oh Dae-Su going is his daily notebook.
