Time Setting & Time Period
Tangled movie story line is set in the kingdom of Corona, which we can find on some maps. It should be around 1300 AD or 1510 AD based on Elena’s age when she was a teenager and Pascal bringing her back to Rapunzel’s castle.
The time period could be any era because the Tangled movie is not historical drama that makes people confuse it with real life events happening during those times but rather pure fantasy stories with no real dates.
Because Tangled is an animated film with a very small amount of violence there isn’t any inherent genre for this story. So, it cannot be reviewed as part of the adventure/historical films alongside Fairy Tale films or even One-Act plays like Shakespearean Artistry.
However, rating would definitely fall between PG and G – now that’s intriguing! Regardless of its various subject matter, not everything in an individual or a movie is rated. Tangled falls into the Animated category which means that there are no real blood or violence scenes like in cartoons such as Family Guy, South Park and The Simpsons.
Movie Cast And Crew
Tangled is a family movie with lots of action scenes. In the story, an evil witch tries to kill our heroine and her prince hero, but they are saved by a magical creature, the spider. The prince falls in love with the heroine and offers her his kingdom if she will marry him. However, she declines because she loves Rapunzel who is still trapped in a tower by a witch.
In order to save Rapunzel, the prince needs help from a courageous knight named Eugene and clever inventor Flynn Rider who helps him break into the castle to free her. Along the way they discover that both Rapunzel and the witch are actually good souls.
The movie’s music was composed by Alan Menken, a prolific composer who worked on Disney movies such as Aladdin (1992) and Little Mermaid (1989). Menken makes his directorial debut with Tangled, taking over from Glen Keane where he ably demonstrates how teamwork can produce better results than acting alone; this practice is also evident when helming This Is It.
Additionally, despite that fact his work as a composer is nearly flawless in Tangled there are some songs which stand out and deserve mention. From the suits worn by Rapunzel’s hair to her grand finale with Eugene it is clear that Menken has worked at creating effective lush soundscapes best suited for up-tempo numbers combined with soft romantic ballads – especially “I See The Light” which I initially thought was cut.
Storyline Of The Movie Tangled
Rapunzel (voice of Mandy Moore) is a beautiful and intelligent young woman who was kidnapped by the Evil Queen when she was just 10 years old. Over 200 years later, her parents finally find out where they are imprisoning their daughter: in an isolated tower somewhere on a remote mountaintop.
Furthermore, the Queen drags the princesses’ father Eugene to meet with an old friend of his named Pascal; who presents him with a contract that states if he releases Rapunzel from the tower, he would lose his wife forever.
The Evil Queen keeps her frozen prisoner inside of a large lantern without access to air or light as punishment for not obeying her mother when she was young. It is in this captive state that she falls in love with Eugene, who shares similar feelings toward his imprisoned princess.
Rapunzel that her hair is “tangled” because of the many braids she wears. Three years go by, and Eugene has been imprisoned in a tower on another mountaintop far away from Rapunzel. One day, a wind blows through the tower carrying with it some flowers. That have blown off of Rapunzel’s head while she was out walking in her freedom.
These flowers then bloom and soon conclude a relationship between Rapunzel, the flower named Gerda (voice of Mae Whitman), Mount Story itself, and Eugene.
Film Humar
This Film was rated PG-13 and this film is similar to another 2012 Disney made a movie called Tangled. It has the same amount of humor, love story and romance but with a better storyline that its industry expected.
The animation for both films were excellent on how nature takes care of Rapunzel’s hair in the tower. Despite her wishful thinking because as soon as she would tell what ever happened now that her hair took off only her head would be there.
Rapunzel was optimistic about her captors’ being evil and trying to trick her into cutting all of it off, but she knows this is not going to happen because Gerda who is given the task of counter-magic by a magical sorceress, drives them away with bad words or actions that make stairs break apart in their path: “Oh no! The stairs are breaking !” Another thing I enjoyed watching historically is how much care Rapunzel takes for her physically being free.
In this film, she is kept in a tower by an evil witch to be brought up as the ultimate sacrifice for only if all of her hair was cut off and never grown again, then every woman from kingdoms would perform towards one another on receiving their outerwear later down on Christmas day just like branches going into a tree’s knots.
Box Office Performanced
Tangled is not a budget film as this film cost over $70 million to make, making it the most expensive traditionally animated feature ever produced. After it was released on December 24, 2011 (the week before Christmas), Tangled grossed $72.1 million during its opening weekend in North America, for a per-screen average of over $14 1500.
The film ultimately went on to worldwide receipts of over $200 million at the box office with an extremely promising future and is predicted to have one more installment which will be titled “Rapunzel’s Ever After”.On Rotten Tomatoes the film has a rating of 51% and on Metacritic the film has an average score 57/100.
There is not one specific favorite scene from Tangled, but I absolutely loved the comedic moments in this film. One particular moment that I really enjoyed was when Rapunzel satirically discussed her hair with Flynn Rider and Eugene while they were waiting for Maximus to take them back to his home. This scene was very funny and had me laughing out loud.
Short Review
I absolutely loved Tangled. This movie had great lessons to teach such as what it is to be a pirate and he has been focused on this specific mindset since the moment they found him in their world.
It clearly means that Rapunzel’s self-sabotage by putting herself up for use created the prefect opportunity of Flynn Rider. Seeing her distress and deciding release her back into society accordingly was a subtle and emotional act.
Rapunzel became very responsible, which I found admirable because in the real world. It was not morally correct to break an oath. No one asked you to make through deceitful actions of demonizing someone who had never done anything wrong against another person’s character or life.
I felt that Rapunzel’s character development in this film was very interesting. She went from someone who kind of resented being locked up leaving her hair to escape, along with so many other things behind like family and friends; she then finds out what body parts were made for by a human hand when Eugene came across it.
The discovery is exhilarating and establishes the fact they were built or given purpose making them appreciate such beauty on the outside world.
In reality, Rapunzel grew and became more courageous as well making decisions that she would have never done before because of her apprehension of being released to the unknown circumstances or deaths awaiting her again in another place.
