Storyline Of The Movie The Triplets Of Belleville

During the end of World War II many members of The French government escape Paris for overseas locations. Before he escapes 1948, Paul has time to walk back through modern day New York City and will go with Gary into San Francisco, California on another occasion later in his life when they are older men while they are abroad (see An American Tail: Fievel Goes West).

Eventually all three brothers return safely to France; but nearly a decade later , the war still hasn’t ended for them. When, later in life Jerome has to return home to be with his mother, he is captured and tortured by German soldiers during a failing attempt of an assassination (see An American Tail: The Mouse that Roared).

During their capture Gary must fake being British so they are sent back while Paul spends six weeks locked up in solitary confinement on death row before reaching safety.

Cycling has been on the rise, especially after Lance Armstrong’s triumph as an American cyclist. The French mafia kidnaps one of these cyclists who is also his mother and will go to any length to get him back alive. When she finds out about this plot, a grandmother goes into action and ends up doing something amazing: crossing the ocean with her three singing friends from belleville by paddle boat!

The film uses an original score that contains music from the New Orleans jazz tradition as well as authentic French melodies by writers like Erik Satie and Claude-Michel Schönberg. The movie is based on the Louis Sachar novel about Gary, Paul and Jerome who were triplets separated at birth during a huge Paris evacuation of people in 1939 (it took place after Germany had invaded France into 1940). The brothers initially do not know each other, but are reunited many years later when they end up living in different parts of the world.

Jerome is a Hollywood movie star who travels around the world; Paul is an inventor who moves to Paris after World War II to start a company making jeeps and cars; and Gary has been traveling around France as an 80 year-old bike messenger.

Gary’s reunion with his brothers significantly changes their lives (particularly Jerome’s) because each of them has been looking for him.Eventually, they all end up back in the same place (Los Angeles) and it is then that Paul realizes he needs to fake being British so they can be sent back to France while Gary spent six weeks locked up in solitary confinement on death row before reaching safety.
