Antimilos Island is an uninhabited Greek island located off the eastern coast of the mainland, about 10 km from the town of Chios. The closest inhabited island is Chios.
It is named after Antimachus I, who ruled over Thrace in the 5th century BC. In antiquity, Antimilos was part of the kingdom of Pergamon.

History
During the Ottoman period, a lighthouse was built on the island to aid navigation in and out of the Dardanellos Sea.
Today only a part of this structure is still standing at great height marking with white flashing light one mile off Chios port entrance during nightfall or daybreak.
Nowadays there are two towns near Antimagalos Island: Antimachia (Αντιμαχη) and Psamatikonas (Πσταματικωνες). Two more islands can be found closer to the island, Seseli (Σεσβιλ) and Ziairos – a big sandy sea beach. And a big sandy beach named after the island’s historical name Aiaia (Αιαι).
The island has become more and more popular during the last years. Many have been attracted by its relaxed lifestyle and simple, yet splendorous architecture of remote karas (castles), barely touched even at the edges while they remain seemingly untouched in their entirety elsewhere in Greece nowadays.
Most beaches are free of dangerous rocks, but need to be alert at high tide; there is excellent diving under safe conditions with different visibility levels around Antimako Bay , Manganadesos bay and Sa.
Climate
Crowded beach at sosia is the main attraction of island and since a couple of years there are a couple more bars, tavernas and kafenions nearby.
The rest can be reached by foot easily as well with fine sandy beaches (a walkable distance), some cliff diving points within two hours drive from Chios town on daily ferry to Megaritissa island or busses to Psamatikonas town.
Recently being introduced also a greek restaurant named “Arion” located in Antimachia/Antiagalou village, a kafenion and taverna at the port of Chios , greek cafe with beautiful sea view at the “Genesis” greece travel agency in Antimachia/under big blue roof.

Mount Fokionas – white granite rock at around 2000 m altitude high above panoramic Dardanellos blue sea scene and next time we’ll for sure drive a north – south greek mountain road through kithos and thorti monastery of the Ancient Macedonians.
Papagouros beach at Chios island (Reateanoreia). We also had a go at hiking up there, but between the stony track and the hot sun we decided against it.
On our way back down to Antimachia port we came across a local named Christos who invited us in his taverna over njoying lamb kebab & blue krinos ❤ Thank you chris !

In Greek mythology, Antimilos Island was the site where both King Polydeuces I of Argos and Queen Opis II were ambushed and killed by the sons of Ares.
According to Roman legend, the island hosted a temple of Mars, which was sacked by the Visigoths in 410 AD. Antimilos Island is located in the Saronic Gulf, 8 kilometres from Mykonos. It is now a nature reserve open to the public.
Wildlife
The small and unassuming Antimilos Island is a place of great natural beauty and historical significance. It is also the site of an abandoned military base that has been the subject of much speculation and conspiracy since the end of World War II.
Located in the Aegean Sea, Antimilos was a strategic military outpost that was used by the Allied forces during WWII to monitor Nazi Germany and its satellite countries.
Today, it is a popular tourist destination that offers visitors a unique glimpse into the hidden world of military history.
