DeAtley Island is a small island located in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. It was named after Frederick De Atley, who was a ship’s captain during the 1700s. The island has been used as a tourist destination since the 1800s because of its beautiful beaches and clear waters.
During World War II, DeAtley Island was used as an American military base to protect ships from German submarines. Today, it remains a popular tourist destination with tourists coming to visit the beach and snorkel around.

DeAtley Island is a small island in the Atchafalaya River. It was named after one of the first settlers who came to this area from Alabama, DeAtley Crutcher.
The town was founded by DeAtley Crutcher and his brother, James Dewitt Crutcher in 1853. In 1864, a few years after their arrival on the banks of the Atchafalaya River, they sold land for $4 per acre to other families. One of these families included John Doyline who later became mayor of St. Martinville in Louisiana as well as president of New Orleans Railway Company which went bankrupt during the depression era. He also started two newspapers in St. Martinville and Thibodaux called The Times-Democrat and The Daily Statesman which were published until he died on October 7th 1903 at the age of 80 years old.
One more thing that I would like to mention is that this little town has played an important role in all aspects such as politics, sports and entertainment throughout its history because it had been home to many politicians including Governor Sam Houston Jones Jr., Senator Huey Long (Louisiana’s best known populist politician), film actor Jackie Gleason who used to live here when he was younger along with his wife Joyce King (Gleason’s wife) and Congressman Ralph Metcalfe among others. DeAtley Island is located in the Bay of Bengal, the closest island to mainland India. It has a long history dating back to 2nd century BC. According to legend, DeAtley Island was discovered by an Indian prince who found it during his hunting trip on the shores of Nila River and named it after himself – DeAtley.
The island was then occupied by a group of Jain monks from Kalyan and Paithan who had arrived here in search for peace and tranquility. They later constructed a monastic complex consisting of several temples, monuments and other structures built along with palaces for the monks and their guests.
After centuries passed by, King Asoka built two stupas at this place which were used as platforms for launching fireworks during festivals like Diwali and Makar Sankranti One can still see these stupas todayHowever all this got destroyed during Islamic invasion in 1026 AD when Mahmud Ghazni invaded this area which led to continuous warfare between Hindus and Muslims since then until 1525 AD when the Portuguese made their first landing here.
Since then there have been sporadic attacks by pirates who raid ships passing through these waters but none has ever landed on DeAtley Island itself! If you wish to visit DeAtley Island or even stay there, make sure you are accompanied by an experienced guide!
Conclusion
After a whole year spent working in and around Chittagong, I know what it’s like to be an owner of both land and home. So why should we be coerced into renting them? Growing up without having access to shelter or owning land will affect you the most when you realize that there are others who do have the same privilege as yourself. That being said people don’t use their buildings/land correctly so cannot keep.
