The Old Village was added to the list of historic sites by both Greek and international authorities in 1991 . The village is older than Delphi ; its original inhabitants moved from Phocis about 800 BCE.
The resort is also home to the local government offices . Vassilis Charitos, the current mayor of Dodona is currently in office . He was elected to his first term in May 2009.
The village’s school has a population between 120-140 students with two teachers and five counselors. The resort also has its own staff for cleaning and management .
A hangar was constructed in the mid 1980s to service clandestine aircraft delivery flights during the civil war that encircled Delphi. Once an American owned business, it has since been sold, making it difficult to access public records regarding its ownership or current operations…In 2009 , on its 53rd anniversary of operation started a new brand combining both “Dove Island Resort” & “Panasonic”.
The former is currently renting rooms while investing heavily into renovating some buildings such as their private beach house , bars, and restaurants.
The transfer of ownership of the license to a new airline was scheduled for early 2010 but apparently never took place.. An employee who wished to remain anonymous said Pan Am operating as “OLA” will be leasing air space from World Airways or PAG Air 2000 at both Dodona International Airport and Athens Eleftherios Venizelos airport .
