Plot

The plot of the movie is about four men who are high on drugs during the 1960s in New York City. Each man has his own reasons for being on drugs which causes them to have different attitudes towards life. They also have very different personalities so their individual problems are not solved but rather worsened when they end up working together at a drug rehabilitation center.
The film ends with all four men having trouble living normal lives after their time at the rehabilitation center because they can’t get rid of their addiction even though they no longer use drugs or alcohol anymore.
The Climax of the Movie

The Story Behind the Movie
The movie is about a very clever and efficient detective who makes his living as a private investigator. His name is Riggs, played by Frank Sinatra. He was born in New York City, but he has moved to Los Angeles with his family when he was still young.
In the movie, the scene where you see Riggs on the bus is just before his first date with Lainie Kazan (Marilyn Monroe). It’s also mentioned that she’s an old friend of his mother’s and they are good friends because they attended college together at Columbia University.
So I believe this explains why Lainie goes to see him after getting off the bus every night. In addition, there were also some interesting scenes between Riggs and Mary Astor during their first meeting which I would like to discuss here:
It seems that Mary Astor knew Riggs before he became a private investigator because she mentions that she had known him since childhood.
However it wasn’t until her husband died when they got married that she met him again in New York City after being separated for many years from one another. She was staying at her aunt’s house while waiting for her divorce to be finalized and everything happened very quickly after she saw him again in New York City for the first time since their separation; hence how fast it ended up happening as we all know what happened later on after their marriage!
