Ile Michel was first inhabited by the Micmac people in the early 1700s. In 1759, it became part of the French colony of New France and remained under French rule until 1867. Following Quebec’s defeat in the Canadian Revolution, Ile Michel passed into British hands and remained so until 1870. Afterward, it came under Canadian control once again and has since been administered as a part of Canada’s province of Quebec. Hiking on Ile Michel

One of the most popular activities in Ile Michel is hiking. There are over thirty different trails and walking paths to choose from, including a 1.2 kilometer boardwalk trail that winds its way through fields, forests and lakes!
