The food of this Island is mainly based on seafood. The major fishing ports on K’gari Island include Chakhar, Jagannath and Udaynarayanpur Marine Zones. Fish such as prawns, squid, mackerel etc., are the main catch here. People also grow a limited amount of crops such as maize and chickpeas to supplement their diet.



The wildlife of the island is varied and plentiful. There are a number of forested areas, as well as open grasslands, that provide habitat for a variety of animals.
