Shrek is a fictional character and the main protagonist of the Shrek film series. He is a hairy green ogre who speaks with an English accent. The stories revolve around Shrek, who wants to be accepted by humans despite his ogre-like appearance, and Fiona, a female fairy who adores him and tries to help him achieve his goal.

His character can be compared to King Arthur whose rule requires him to secure not only the cooperation but also faith from other kings.

Donkeyas Donkey

The Donkey’s role in the movie should be seen as similar to that of a cow. It serves mainly as scene setter, but it is also able to save Shrek or assist him at times critical during his journey through the kingdom. More importantly however, Donkey can demonstrate show us how much he loves Shrek and he reacts accordingly whenever bad news invades him.

Princess Fionaas

 Shrek, princess fiona and donkey are the main characters in this film. Shrek feels that his new swamp has been taken over by fairy tale creatures who were banished from Duloc by Lord Farquaad. He makes a trade with him to get his swamp back for getting Princess Fiona out of being married to him so he will be the king of Duloc but it turns out Prince Charming is after the same thing.

Lord Farquaadas

The title character is a green ogre who, with the aid of his donkey friend and an elf sidekick, sets out on a quest to defeat lord farquaad from the neighboring kingdom. The film parodies other fairy tale adaptations, primarily aimed at animated Disney films.

Monsieur Hoodas

Adam Sandler, the leader of a gang who terrorizes others. The lazy yet but funny character in Shrek’s crew is actually played by two different actors at one point and later he gets assigned to other characters with lot less screen-time plays including roles as Lord Farquaad numerous times, King Harold father figure in flashback story line and many more.

Ogre Hunteras

A well meaning not quite good ogre hunter who Sir Didymus was a tad too attached to but he grew on later.

Captain of guards in the Kingdom is fat and wearsed shoes, he has a terrible voice which causes problem but his role isn’t important.

Baby Bearas

The half wooden bear who is in most part of the film, heard of when Shrek gives him a lot but it turns out he doesn’t play an important role as Fairy Godmother later on.

Geppettoas

Geppetto, a puppet maker and the father of Pinocchio who wants to free him from his conniving government. He later friends with Pinocchio after he gets released form prison where he was sent by bully act leader in disguise.

Pinnochioas

The son of the puppet maker played by Jim Carrey. Later in Shrek’s sequel, “Shrek 2”, Geppetto befriends Pinnochio again after he was released from prison under former Tinman and they against bully act end up friends with a wooden horse Pinocchio gives him to travel as taxi cab driver.

Old Womens

 

Old women including Mother Bear, Miranda actress who Shrek rescues at fireeep cliffs and later she befriends him for life afterwards changing her mind about being a princess but not that much on getting married to Prince Charming.

Peter Pan

Senator Peralta is a Senator who votes against Shrek saving Miranda. He later changes his mind to be with Pinocchio in “Shrek 2” ending up friends.

Blind Mouseas

The blind mouse who was a pitty to Mr. Eric in the first movie and later becomes his apprenticeas he hates working but love being an assistant as people seem it’s important not just money around water as future strikes when he finds out that Shrek can hear him with earphones installed, almost befriends Shrek at the end of sequels.

The gingerbread man who first appears in secret to Puss and wants to beat him up so he can take his gold coin decorated cookie.

Storyline of Shrek Movie

Plot Summary

In the land of Far, far away lived Prince Charming. A handsome prince who was brave, compassionate and a true hero figure. Ever since his father’s death he has been raised by fairy tale creatures such as Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella with utmost care to be a perfect knight prince for all princesses out there fit him well in that role.

The journey which began when he came across Shrek face to green ogre made them travel together under circumstances that are humorous and entertaining but also showing them to unearth the dark demon within Shrek which is no human.

They soon shared a joke, traveled with each other through various situations together doing good deeds such as rescuing princesses in distress, dancing their way back home pretty much acting out of character where they often danced on opposites ends of the spectrum.

Plot Synopsis

Shrek is a loveable ogre who has led his life feeling he was meant to be alone. But upon meeting Fiona, Shrek learns that others think alike as him and says “maybe you’re not the only one out of place”

Shrek then comes across a painting of Princess Fiona which leads him on a journey through the dreaded Fairy Tale world known commonly as “The Realms Of Far Far Away” where monsters and

fairy-tale creatures live and work together as the oil paintings of an ambiguous character known only by name.

He feels that he’s a person like them because fairy stories are narrated through art which suggests they have their own self identities not just being manipulated by others into believing in certain scenarios but to think for themselves as it shows that everyone has access to creating or doodling what ever he wants due to his love for Fiona.

In my opinion the reason behind that success was because of its humor and this movie is a perfect example for such concept. Many fans actually love to go shopping with Shrek but he always make us feel as though we can’t afford him while we only think it cost just one dollar. The same thing took place in shreks 3, also known as “shrek 4”.

Shrek the third is the third installment in shrek franchise. The movie was released by DreamWorks on 20 June 2007 and grossed $347 million worldwide. Before the release of shrek the third, shrek 2 had already done a success at box office but unfortunately this time it didn’t do well as compared to its predecessor.

Main reason behind that failure would be because Shrek 3 has too many plot holes which are never resolved throughout the movie or how things ended with Fiona and Shrek.
