History
There’s a story that says the island at Porto Vecchio was a Roman colonial settlement called “Sacro Monte di Natale,” meaning Sacred Christmas Mountain.
Though native people of Andros existed on the island, they were decimated over many years by unfortunate plights such as disease and starvation stemming from failed crops and fires set deliberately to kill their food supplies.
