Storyline
Pat Solitano (Bradley Cooper) is a former mental patient with bipolar disorder who moves back in with his parents to the house on Silver Lake Road, where he once lived as a kid. From watching news reports at work and flashbacks of his childhood from the neighborhood bully Jimmy Markham, Pat recalls how several years ago, Pat had suspected that some kids were stealing lottery tickets for their own purpose.
After an altercation over two stolen tickets in a local convenience store featuring Pat’s mother, Nikki, who then attempted suicide due to alcoholism and the losing streak of lottery winners, Pat moved back home with his parents.
Since that time, as he spends more time with his new girlfriend Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence) and their friendship becomes stronger, they were happy occasions are stolen inside her by Shauna Malware-Tweep, a woman with a stalker complex and later revealed to have Bipolar II.
These experiences have an effect on Pat. He becomes more paranoid of himself being over the edge than Tiffany’s past personality disorder, who still lives in his parents’ house. She often breaks down into secret rages when she is discovered cheating about her suicide attempts.
