The Searchers (1956) Meaning And Ending

The Meaning of the Movie

The movie The searchers is about a group of scientists who go to the Andes Mountains in search of hidden Mayan civilization. They travel deep into the jungle, encountering many dangers and discovering strange phenomena along the way.

It is based on the book by John Fowles called The quest for El Dorado which was published in 1961.

The book was made into a movie in 1956 with Robert Taylor, Sal Mineo and Anthony Quinn playing important roles.

The Message of the Movie

The message of the movie The Seeker is that, how we all are searchers in our life. We always look for something new and different to experience.

So it is important to have a positive attitude in life so that you can enjoy your search for happiness. You must know what you want from life before you go on searching for anything else, just remember one thing – don’t give up easily.

Ending Explanation

Ending Explanation

The ending of the movie The Seachers is a very sad one. This movie takes place in the late 50’s and early 60’s. The main character, Don (Richard Boone) works for a company called “Seeker” which hires out people to go into dangerous places like Tibet or Africa and search for things that have been lost.

One day he comes back from one of these searches with a Tibetan mask which was stolen from an archeological site. He gets fired when he brings it back to his boss at Seeker. Later on though, his wife who has gone through many hardships finds out about this treasure that Don had found in Tibet so she decides to take her family there so they can get rich off of this valuable artifact which they could sell at auction.

This film is extremely depressing because as you can see, it ends with the tragic death of their daughter who died after falling down some stairs while running away from some thugs who were trying to kill her father for what he knew about this treasure and how he had gotten it in the first place. So my answer would be: “A final note should end on an upbeat note.”

The Main Idea of The Movie

The main idea of the movie The Seeker is that society has become too busy and they are obsessed with life in general. People are so caught up in materialism that they have forgotten about God. They look for happiness and meaning outside themselves, but there is no satisfaction or peace without faith in God.

Hidden Meaning of the Movie

The movie is about a young man who wants to be a writer and doesn’t have the talent but decides to go on an adventure in search of inspiration. He ends up finding it at the end when he gets stuck in a cave with only his typewriter for company.

There are many similar stories that feature writers, artists, musicians or philosophers who go on journeys and find their muse, usually after being given some kind of sign from above or by chance. They return changed men, filled with new purpose and ideas and ready to bring them into reality.

Was the Ending Satisfying?

The ending of the movie The Searchers is satisfying. It ends with Ethan Phillips, who played the role of John Wayne’s son, giving a nice speech to his father. The two of them are reunited at last and John Wayne promises that he will return for Ethan when he dies.

It shows how important family is and you can never lose your parents or siblings if you have someone like Ethan Phillips to love them and be there for them as well.

So in conclusion, I would say that it was a good ending but not an absolutely perfect one because it did leave us hanging at the end since we don’t know what happens next to John Wayne’s character? He could die in a plane crash or something else could happen. However, this doesn’t take away from the fact that it was still a good ending so I would give it an 8 out of 10!
