FAQ

Where Is Bedarra Island Located?

Bedarra Island is located in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, south of Port Blair. The island is located in the Havelock Atoll, which also includes just two other islands – Hartthur and North Island.

How Do I Get There?

Bedarra Island is well connected to Port Blair by air with daily flights from Delhi on Jet Airways or Indigo Airlines , both of whom are based at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport . There are also other regular flight connections from Kolkata (Calcutta), Guwahati, Chennai (Madras), and Chittagong. The Andaman Trunk Road Network can also get you to Bedarra Island from Port Blair . If you come by sea travel via the Bay of Bengal , there are a wide range of tour operators who offer cruises from various cities on the eastern seaboard such as Kolkata or Chennai which will take about 3-4 days depending on winds and tides.

How Far Is Shelly Island?

It takes about 30 minutes by air. If you’re coming from the west coast of India , remember to check the local weather conditions before flying – make sure it’s safe! The very best time to come is March-June, which are generally dry months but milder than February and December so that you can play in surf without worrying too much about cold water (remember there will be clothing requirements). June through September tend to be the main surfing months on Bedarra, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t come any other time – just go prepared.

What Is A Walk-On Or Wristband?

A “walk-on” means you have paid for a room at one of our beachfront cottages and can stay for as long as it takes surf conditions to get off your feet (or fix in place). A 3 hr maximum is the standard for walk-ons, but at peak times it can sometimes be a 6 or even 7 hour period! Once you have been surfing with us for 3 hours we will ask if you would like to move from your room.

Is Petrol/Gas/Diesel Fuel Available?

This is not an easy question to answer because there are so many factors that play into these options depending on whether they should be available or not. For example, the cost of fuel can vary from day to day because even if it’s available a red line will have just been put in place and at other times there may have been restrictions on where people are allowed to gas up their cars or boat tanks .
